Read 👀 "About the Author" and underline ✍️ or highlight the words and phrases that describe the author. 5. Read 👀 the texts "Always Running" and "'Race' Politics" on p. 37-40, underlining ✍️ and circling as described in "Setting a Purpose for Reading." You will get credit for marking the text. 6. First, write a headline for your story. If you can't think of one, you can use the headline for the video listed above. 6. On the next line below the headline, write an opening sentence. If you can't think of one, here are some ideas: Rebekah in the Keys visited __________ to talk about ______________. OR Rebekah in the Keys talked to _______________ about _______________. OR The video I chose to write a story about was about ________________________. 7. Now summarize what happened in the video using TWO (2) DIRECT quotes an TWO (2) INDIRECT quotes. It doesn't matter what order they're in as long as the summary flows nicely and sounds good. If you need to go rewatch some of the video to get your direct and/or indirect quotes, you can do that. 8. Double check to see that you formatted your direct quotes correctly. 9. Now write a closing sentence. If you can't think of one, you can use one of these ideas: ___________________ seems interesting to me, and I also would like to _________________ sometime in in the future. OR __________________ was a very ______________(adjective like "interesting" or "funny") video, and I recommend you watch it. OR I also would like to __________________ someday soon. 10. Click “Add or Create” 4. Then click Google Docs 5. Give your writing a TITLE based on the writing topic from #2 above that you chose. 6. Decide whether you want to write in ACTIVE voice (only) or PASSIVE voice (only). 7. Write your choice (ACTIVE VOICE or PASSIVE voice) on the next line below the title. (You will write for 15 minutes on that topic in ONLY that voice throughout your writing assignment.) 8.
